The Animal Care Department of the Ontario SPCA strives to lead by example in the protection and rehabilitation of wildlife by: promoting and encouraging the ongoing protection of wildlife habitats; fostering an enhanced public understanding, appreciation, and respect for all wildlife; and heightening awareness of wildlife issues.

Recognizing the diverse needs and challenges facing wildlife in Ontario, the Ontario SPCA's Animal Care Department oversees the Ontario SPCA Wildlife and Rehabilitation Centre in Midland. The Centre provides care to sick, injured or orphaned animals and returns them to their natural environment. Wild animals are brought to the Centre by concerned members of the public or are transferred to the Centre from other animal shelters.

The Ontario SPCA also trains Branch and affiliated Humane Society staff in the area of emergency wildlife care, hosting training workshops about helping the public deal with wildlife conflicts, providing short-term care to wild animals in shelter environments, conducting physical exams, handling wildlife and taking health and safety precautions.

To find out how you help sick, injured or orphaned animals, live peacefully with wildlife, and help the Society's efforts to protect and provide care to all Ontario wildlife in need.
