THS told sick cats should come before legal Fat Cats
New evidence of cruelty at Toronto Humane Society includes pet food that has been expired for six years still being fed to sick cats, and a cat dying slowly in its cage of malnutrition.

Toronto, ON (November 29, 2009) - Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals investigators have discovered pet food that had been expired for six years being used to feed seriously ill cats at the Toronto Humane Society.

"This is a serious issue that is more evidence that the search warrant executed on the THS last Thursday was necessary and the charges laid were necessary," said OSPCA lead investigator Kevin Strooband. "That food should have been thrown out six years ago. Instead, Mr. Trow's team were feeding it to sick cats. They should be ashamed of themselves. Every day we are here we are finding more evidence like this."

The expired food was being fed to cats with upper respiratory infections. Judy King, a local animal-care volunteer commented that "There isn't a cat-owner in Toronto who would feed their sick cat six-year-old food. But at the THS House of Horrors, they did. Apparently there is no policy of cats before Fat Cats." Photos of the expired food packages are available to media.

Also today, a cat names Serena, yellow from jaundice, was humanely euthanized after losing two-thirds of its body weight while dying slowly in its cage of malnutrition and neglect.
